Tempura flour, 700g. This is a 700G pack of Japanese-style tempura batter mix from Showa. The Showa pre-mix delivers consistent results without the complexity of hand-mixed batter (which requires ice-cold water and minimal mixing).

Use it for ebi tempura (shrimp), vegetable tempura, fish tempura, and modern Asian-fusion tempura applications.

Store it cool and dry. Close the pack as soon as you have taken what you need. Origin on the label: Japan. It is also used for foodservice high-volume tempura production.

Crispy is what this aisle is all about. Here you'll find panko breadcrumbs for Dubai kitchens and tempura flour for light, lacy batter, in packs that suit a restaurant fryer as well as a home kitchen. GGFT has supplied restaurant kitchens since 2004, and every price is shown on the page.

  • Panko: RYK Panko Bread Crumbs and Lobo Panko Bread Crumbs from Thailand, 1kg each.
  • Tempura flour: Nisshin Welna Tempura Flour from Japan, 600g, and Gogi Tempura Flour from Thailand, 500g.
  • Batter mix: Showa Tempura Batter Mix from Japan, 700g.

Panko gives katsu, ebi fry and croquettes that big, airy crunch that ordinary breadcrumbs can't match. For a classic coating, dip in flour, then egg, then press on the panko. For tempura, mix the flour with ice-cold water just before frying and leave a few lumps; overmixing makes it heavy. Serve with a dipping sauce made from Japanese soy sauce, roll some sushi nori for crispy prawn maki, or see the full Japanese pantry. Buying for restaurants or wholesale? Questions We Get Asked

What's the difference between panko and regular breadcrumbs?

Panko is made from crustless bread and flaked into larger, lighter crumbs, so it fries up crunchier and absorbs less oil than fine breadcrumbs.

Tempura flour or batter mix: which should I buy?

Both make a light tempura batter with cold water. If you want the quickest, most consistent result, the Showa Batter Mix is ready to go; Nisshin Welna and Gogi are tempura flours many cooks like to adjust themselves.

How should I store panko and tempura flour?

Keep them sealed in a cool, dry place away from strong smells. Fold the bag tightly or use an airtight container once it's open, and check the pack for its best-before date.
