Sarsons Malt Vinegar, UK - 300ML

Malt vinegar, 300ml. Sarsons. Dark vinegar from malted barley, with a caramel-malt taste that is not white vinegar and not wine vinegar. British. The bottle is retail.

A fish-and-chip shop shakes it on the chips. British plates, a pickle, a chutney, and a marinade for a game dish all use it. A sauce that wants that malt note starts here. A small restaurant and a home kitchen both keep 300ml. A busy chip shop will go through more than one bottle.

Keep it cool and dry. Don't put it in a wine-vinegar dressing and expect the same result. The colour is dark and the taste is malty. 300ml lives by the fryer or on the table, not in a 5 litre well.
